While camping recently at Buckhorn Creek Park on the bank of Lake O’ the Pines in Northeast Texas, we decided to visit the boat launch near our campground. As we neared the boat ramp, we were greeted by the Black Vulture shown in the photo below.Olympus E-M1 (124mm, f/5.6, 1/1250 sec, ISO640)
This impressive vulture appeared to have taken on the role of the fee collector. As we watched it from our truck, it seemed to point to the instructions for me to read.

I continued to photograph the bird until, at one point, it turned its head to the left. Not towing a boat trailer, I had no need to enter the boat ramp behind the right side of the sign. Perhaps the vulture was directing me to the parking lot to the left.
