As we drove slowly along Dusty Road one morning, I noticed a Cattle Egret on top of the front levee of a crawfish pond. Unfortunately, it was walking in grass tall enough to hide its lower body and legs.
Every so often, it would lower its head into the grass, hiding most of its body. It seemed to be searching for food, but it was impossible to see exactly what it was doing.
One time, however, it came up out of the grass with a prize.
It appears the egret had caught a frog entrée with a side salad.
